The Grand Canal of Venice

I loved wandering the city and looking at architecture. Ponte di Rialto

This bridge was finished in 1592 and is located near a market that is thought to have been in existence since about AD400. The bridge is lined on both sides by shops and is always filled with a throng of tourists. I figure there's no way that a bridge built in the 1500's can continue to withstand the loads it bears.
