I was in Venice in early April, 2002. I'd say this is the very best time of year to visit Venice. At this time, it isn't too crowded and the weather is very nice. Plan to spend more time here than you think you want or need. You'll probably find it's very difficult to navigate through the city. But if you just relax and let yourself get lost, you'll discover pleasant sights where ever you go.

I hope you enjoy my photos of Venice, Italy.

One of the mosaics on St. Mark's Basilica

In the year AD 828 Venetian merchants traveled to Alexandria, Egypt and stole the body of St. Mark. They brought it back to Venice and Doge Giustiniano provided the money to build a huge church to house the body. The church later burnt down and this one was built in 1004. Now that's history!
The Bridge of Sighs

This bridge connects Palazzo Ducale to a dungeon and torture chambers. The bridge supposedly got its name from the sighs of the prisoners as they crossed the bridge to their unfortunate fate. I had wanted to see this bridge since the '70's, when first hearing Robin Trower's album by the same name.
