The first historical reference to the town of Heidelberg was in 1196.
Heidelberg is home to the University of Heidelberg - the oldest university in
Germany, founded in 1386. About one-fifth of the city's population of 140,000 are
students. The city itself was named a World Heritage
Site by UNESCO in 1998.
I hope you enjoy my photos of Heidelberg, Germany.
Many of the buildings in the old section of Heidelberg have these beautiful
fronts.
It's a pleasure to browse through the narrow streets of Heidelberg.
There is this beautiful old city gate on the bridge that crosses the
Neckar River.
